Based in Offenbach / Frankfurt (Germany), he writes music for publishers such as Warner Chappell, and collaborates with other composers and artists on film scores / soundtracks or solo projects. He specializes in creating ethnic – middle eastern sounds.

In 2022, he was nominated for the Hollywood Music In Media Award (HMMA), with his music “Lost City Of The Sands” in the genre Documentary.

Cankat’s main instrument is the Saz, also known as Baglama.
